UPCOMING ///
GUEST DIRECTOR /// CHRYSSANTHI KOURI
Chryssanthi is a theatre and film director and actor. Coming from a media arts background she studied acting at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts graduating with an MA in 2005. Since then she has worked with new writing, directing plays for DYS-PLA (a festival dedicated to showcasing dyslexic writers) and directing in monthly new writing development workshop Sunday Surgery. She recently became a reader for ScriptSpace. In 2009 Chryssanthi started directing and writing short films again and is currently developing her first feature film. This workshop was developed as a follow up to her MA dissertation which investigated an intuitive approach to acting as an alternative to an intellectual approach. www.chryssanthikouri.com
WORKSHOP /// WITHOUT A METHOD
This is an experimental session which aims to explore the process of the actor outside of already learned and known methods. The workshop encourages the actor to bend the boundaries these methods may create, liberate their imagination and activate their impulse and intuition in a way that will enable them to use these senses practically when preparing for a role. Using music and fine art as stimuli, the participants will work on creating an organic connection with character. Scenes from plays will be used to explore the interaction of these characters with text and how this way of working can be applied in rehearsal. The only preparation you will need for this workshop is an open mind.

"I just wanted to say what a brilliant night I had last night at your workshop... It was a warm group and your openess made it feel easy to get on with the work and explore..."
"Thank you so much for the workshop last night. It was a very useful exercise for me, and great not just to see the scenes up on their feet, but acted out with such enthusiasm and talent; it was remarkable how quickly the actors managed to latch on to the spirit of the piece. And you two have set up a very valuable initative, which you seem to be able to organise with an efficency that in no way detracts from the fun - long may it continue! " -- David Crook, Writer
